HIV Law Project was founded in 1989 to meet the needs of the low-income, HIV-positive women and men of color who desperately needed legal services and had nowhere to turn for help.
Since 1989, HIV Law Project has continued to grow and evolve in response to our clients changing needs. We were the first and, today, remain the only legal agency providing comprehensive services focused exclusively on low-income people living with HIV/AIDS in New York City, including women, people of color, recent and undocumented immigrants, low-income members of the LGBT community, and the homeless.
Through innovative legal services and advocacy programs, HIV Law Project fights for the rights of the most underserved people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Birth Project International Print Exchange Exhibition
Opening: Thursday 24 May 2007, 7-9pm
Location: PS², 18 Donegall Street, Belfast
This exhibition dealing with physical and mental aspects of birth and motherhood, features work by printmakers from USA , Australia , Israel , Africa, Ireland , China , Canada , Argentina , Venezuela , Belgium , Switzerland and includes the work of three local artists.
The Birth Project is part of an international exchange of prints and stories from women printmakers. It was initiated and organized by two artists from USA , Sylvia Taylor and Pat Hunsinger and originally exhibited at the Mid America Print Council, Athens , Ohio , in September 2006.
Women printmakers were asked to reveal their most authentic experiences related to birth; to share what their real experience has been and how they feel about it. Women from all walks of life and geographic locations have been brought together to explore the subject of potential or actualized motherhood.
Many themes have emerged in the course of this project. An artist from Venezuela explores the thorniness and stigma of post-partum depression, while an African woman looks at loss and healing surrounding the birth that didnt happen.
Women connecting with other women has been the primary focus of this project. Wherever the work is exhibited, there is an invitation for viewers to share their own experiences in writing, thereby becoming part of an ever-growing collection of stories.
25 May- 9 June 2007
Location: PS², 18 Donegall Street
Open: Tues - Sat, 1-5pm
